RCMP release images of a robbery suspect in hopes the public can aid investigators with the identity of the man they say robbed a local cab driver last Monday evening.
On March 27, 2017 at 8:33 pm, the Kelowna RCMP received a report of a robbery that just occurred near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Richter Street in downtown Kelowna. Police have determined that the suspect had been picked up by a Kelowna taxi company at a business in the 700 block of Harvey Avenue, transported to a location in Rutland before being delivered back to the downtown core.
It is alleged that the suspect physically attacked and threatened the cab driver when asked to pay his cab fare of over $45, states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
According to the victim, the suspect allegedly choked, punched and threatened the cab driver with what appeared to be used needles.
The victim sustained what police describe as non-life threatening injuries during the attack.
The suspect who fled from the taxi cab on foot with the cab drivers cellular device, is described as a Native male, of slim build, approx. 5’ 7 tall, wearing a hooded beige jacket, jeans and a blue baseball cap.
