File # 2018-18440
North Vancouver RCMP are looking for the owners of two bike parts that were stolen yesterday from the bike rack at the Lonsdale Quay, west side of the Seabus Terminal area.
The thefts occurred at approximately 11:30 pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2018 where a male was witnessed stealing a Trek mountain bike leaving the locked front tire attached to the bike rack. The lone male then stole the front tire from another locked bike (belonging to a Diadora mountain bike) – put the two together and rode off.
The witness called the North Vancouver RCMP who conducted immediate patrols of the area. Approximately an hour later at 12:30 am on Wednesday, July 17, an officer observed the suspect riding the stolen bike approaching Lions Gate Bridge. The 35 year-old male suspect from Vancouver was arrested for Theft and Possession of Stolen Property.
Police have arrested the person allegedly responsible for the theft of the bike parts and have recovered the stolen property, said Cpl. Richard De Jong of the North Vancouver RCMP.
What police require now is to identify the owners of the stolen property to be able to forward the criminal charges to Crown.
If you are the victim of the stolen bike parts you are asked to call the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311. Please reference police file # 2018-18440.
