Police busy with 2 robberies in Langford, hours apart.

On November 7th, 2017 at approximately 3:10 pm West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a robbery behind the Cineplex Movie Theatre at the West Shore Town Centre on Jacklin Rd in the City of Langford. Police received reports of approximately 7 youths fighting behind the movie theatre. Police received information that a youth had his backpack stolen during the incident. All suspects fled the area when Police arrived.

West Shore RCMP, with assistance of the Saanich PD K9 Division, located and arrested 4 youths in the area, and the backpack was recovered. No injuries were sustained by youths at the scene. Further investigation showed the parties are familiar with each other.

The matter is still under investigation.

The same day at approximately 6:15pm West Shore RCMP received another report of a robbery at the same location. Police received information that 2 suspects allegedly robbed another youth and threatened the youth with bear spray. The suspects made away with 2 necklaces and a cellphone.

West Shore RCMP located and arrested the 2 suspects close to the scene. The suspects, an 18 year old man from Victoria and a 16 year old youth from Esquimalt, were held in custody for a court appearance.
